What's in a name...

Journal Entry: Tue Apr 22, 2008, 4:04 PM

I've been thinking a lot about the most recent series of pots that I fired about a week ago. Round-ish forms started emerging in my work almost immediately after I started working with clay. I always felt they had a presence, and loved them, but couldn't put my finger on it. In struggling for a name for my most recent deviation, I've been thinking about what it is I see in this form and how the surfaces are really starting to echo that same feeling.

I finally named my recent deviation It's called Anticipation. I explain it in better detail in the artist comments. I have about a dozen pieces left to photograph and post. I think they will follow this same path and thought process.

It's very gratifying to finally pinpoint what has been swirling around in my head for a while about my work. :)

*cl2007 :iconcl2007: asked me to do an interview for the Artisan Crafts Club :iconartisancraft:

He did his homework and asked some great questions. Plus you can find out how macaroni art turns into pottery.

Thank you for the interview Lee!

Thanks for the fav., Lisa, (Large Pitcher). I agree with what another has commented on. It's refreshingly interesting to see where other potters work. I find myself analyzing things like, ...what kind of wheel do they use?...what tools are they using? ...have they many hand-made tools? ... what other pots and stuff are on their shelves? -...maybe I'm just nosey!:)

I read that on her dA page. That is awesome! Yuck - essays. That's one thing I DON'T miss from school. Things are going well for me... just making pots and working as usual.

Hey Lisa,
Things are going good over here. My wife got accepted to Grad School, and will start in the fall. Other than that things are slow, and bogged down with having to write a bunch of essays......How are you doing??
