- Wheel thrown and altered
- Laguna B-mix
- Burnished with terra sig while bone dry
- Fired in a foil saggar [link] with ferric chloride, and sugar

H 9in x W 11in

I've had a fascination with pots that are "squished" lately. I wanted to make a piece that still had a round base but flared really wide at the edges and was really flat. So I threw a pot that was very cone shaped. Then when it dried enough for me to touch it without leaving finger prints I altered it into this shape. For the saggar firing, I wanted to create a vertical movement to the piece, so I applied the ingredients to give me that effect.

Love the shape of the pot and the 'branched' pattern on it. (:

The verticle effect turned out great. Whenever I try making something like that, the edges crack and I have to use a wet paint brush to smooth the edges. I haven't done the wheel in a while actually...
quite unique...even more 'fractal' looking!

Sounds like you are waiting until it is too dry to alter it.

Gosh I love your work!!
This is quite beautiful. I really love the shape and pattern (the title is very appropriate). Nicely done. :)

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.
Wonderful piece! I really like you explination and you worked the movement of the patina with the form very well-harmoniously. Great color and form- keep them comming!
