Faceted Bottle by lisaluera Faceted Bottle by lisaluera
Faceted Bottle, October 2007

- Wheel Thrown
- Paddled and created feet just before leather hard
- Wood fired

The bottle was originally made in my Jeff Brown workshop [link] . This was fired in the wood firing I mentioned in my journal. Only the neck is glazed with satin black. The rest of the pot is raw clay that was colored by the flame and wood ash. I thought this one somewhat resembled leather for some reason.

I was very pleased with what happened to this one in the kiln. The kiln gods were on my side on this one. :)

This is a really nice shape...and the rich colors of the clay play nicely against the glaze.

I was happy with how nice this clay fired. It was from a workshop, so unfortunately I have no idea what the clay actually was. I think it was just a mixture of all his reclaim that he kept throwing in the pug mill.

Wow, wood firing is really amazing. I never knew you could get that rich textures and colors by just firing it.
Wonderful shape too.

I agree with you... amazing! It was my first wood firing and I had no idea what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised.
