This is the photographer's version of my camera phone picture [link]

The two pieces in the link above were both sold, but I called my friends and asked if I could borrow them to get them photographed. I love how these photographs turned out!

This was my first horse hair pot.

These were thrown in August, 2006.
Wheel thrown white stoneware
Burnished while leather hard with a riverstone
During the second firing, they were pulled out of the kiln while still hot (1500 degrees) and decorated with horsehair, sugar, and feathers.

You must have been so happy. This is excellent! And you've shown it off really well in this photo. Your background lighting really sets the mood to appreciate your piece. Excellent all-around!!

I hope you don't mind, I've featured this piece in a "mad-lib" story in my journal. If you'd rather not have you piece featured I understand, just let me know. [link]

your work is just incredible...so dainty and delicate...yet the colors and patterns of the glaze set them so far apart from being 'normal'........love this!

Thank you. Everyone laughs that I'm so controlled and anal with the form and my throwing, and then I end up putting a surface on it that is completely uncontrollable. I guess it's a way of balancing everything out. :)

lol...i'd spend hours and hours just working on the texture to my ceramics because the glazes available at my school sucked! i'd ask if i could add ground metals or pieces of wood to my stuff and my teacher would almost pass out at the idea...ugh!

That is the exact reason you see only one pot in my entire gallery with a glaze on it. And it is actually done with airbrushed underglazes and a clear glaze. So in my opinion, still doesn't count as a traditional glaze.

sigh....i just read about that in magazines and books...my school was VERY low budgeted....i think if i'd mentioned airbrush my teacher would go numb. lol he only liked work that was usable also...nothing that was ';pretty' or sculptural for him.
