Horsehair Vase, November 2006

Wheel Thrown
White Stoneware
Burnished while leather hard with a river stone
Pulled out of the kiln while hot and decorated with horse hair, feathers, and sugar. They leave smoke writing on the surface.
No glaze.

The patterens on this one turned out beautifully. The feathers droop so gracefully. For some reason that one on the left gives a sad, lonely feel. This particular shaped top is not my favorite style, but that of course is a personal choice.

Thanks! You should try it out. It's a lot of fun, and total instant gratification. You don't have to wait forever for the glaze firing.
